Time is running out and the next beginning is nearly here.

Ninety-six-year-old Theia has one final story to tell. As her twelve-year-old granddaughter Kali sits bedside, she recounts the extraordinary life she shared with her best friend, Bug—from their childhood fascination with science on a Virginia farm to a groundbreaking discovery that changed their understanding of time itself.

As young scientists, Theia and Bug uncover evidence that time travel exists between entangled objects but find themselves amidst academic uncertainty for running their secret late-night experiments. When they are approached by Robert and Alicia from a privately funded lab with an opportunity to continue their research, everything changes with an impossible breakthrough: a doorway to different moments in history. But when an expedition goes disastrously wrong, the two friends must navigate war-torn Europe, evade Nazi forces, and confront the consequences of altering history.

As Kali listens and secrets are revealed, she realizes her grandmother’s story is much more than just a tale of science and adventure. It is a telling of love, sacrifice, and connection that stretches across generations, worlds, and timelines—and may be far more entangled with her own life than she ever imagined.

What's the vibe in terms of mainstream classics?

Like Raiders of the Lost Ark...

Analogous to The Princess Bride (film) ...

Similar to Back to the Future...

It captures elements of the fantastical intertwined with grounded science fiction and 1930's world history. There is also a tightly knit parallel with preventing world-dominating power from getting into the wrong hands. Academic adventurers, chases on horseback, and evading Nazi forces all live here.

Every Universe, Every World is a story about family connection that merely uses time travel as a wonderful method of delivery. The light-hearted comedic moments are sprinkled throughout while maintaining a seriousness of the mission at hand. Subtle impacts on real events in history are within for those seeking "easter eggs."

Comparable to The Mummy...

Analogous to The Princess Bride (film) ...

The novel provides a quest-like slow build through a coming-of-age tale of two budding female scientists, before escalating into the most extraordinary of adventures. From unlocking one of the world's most tightly held secrets to chase scenes and plane crashes, the vibe of this one is in sync with that of our heroines.

Every Universe, Every World may not be a story of pirates and tru wuv; however, it is a tale of incredible adventure told in the same way. The story is presented by a grandmother to her granddaughter, with banter, interrupts, questions, and emotions as complex concepts, characters, and surprises are presented.

She rested her shoulder onto the buttstock of the rifle and settled into position. "Holy shit, Bug. You cannot kill Hitler," I said.

Chapter 10 - Event Horizon

Dark Matter - science fiction thriller

The Ministry of Time - literary science fiction

The Ministry of Time - literary science fiction

  • Time (and multi-verse) travel explained using very real aspects of quantum theory
  • Being transported to a different time and place
  • A race to make things right

The Ministry of Time - literary science fiction

The Ministry of Time - literary science fiction

The Ministry of Time - literary science fiction

  • Story told to deliver information to a past or future self
  • The time machine (portal or door) is damaged by a saboteur
  • Conflicting motives for time travel lead to serious confrontation

The Upper World - YA science fiction

The Ministry of Time - literary science fiction

The Unmaking of June Farrow - magical realism

  • Although young adult, similar fast pace of grounded sci-fi
  • Dilemma of having knowledge of the future and interfering with it
  • Protagonists are underrepresented scientists

The Unmaking of June Farrow - magical realism

The Ministry of Time - literary science fiction

The Unmaking of June Farrow - magical realism

  • Characters must choose between different timelines to preserve or change the world and their lives

Spooky action at a distance did not seem so spooky after all. It was not information traveling faster than the speed of light in free space to oddly break nature’s speed limit, but it was information traveling without the need for free space at all.

    About the author

I spent much of my young life in the music industry as a recording and touring artist but eventually made my way back to school to obtain undergraduate and graduate degrees in physics at UNLV and UCLA, respectively. Although I have enjoyed writing and research in neurophysics, science education, and quantum theory, I presently hold a position as a laser scientist & plasma engineer with a large semiconductor company. It is a dream of mine to introduce readers to the intrigue of the laws of nature and ignite their imaginations through fiction.
